The project “Breathe London” allows checking air quality – online and accessible to everyone.
Air pollution in urban areas is a growing challenge. Everyone is affected by this invisible threat to our health. Visualizing this and showing the benefits of countermeasures can ultimately help to improve air quality.
For this purpose, a network of 100 AQMesh Pods was built in Greater London as part of the project “Breathe London”. The pods are mounted stationary, mostly discreetly on lamp posts. In addition, two sensor-equipped Google Street View cars collect data in the streets of London. The collected data can then be viewed on the Breathe London website almost live (within one hour). There, the nitrogen dioxide pollution is shown, as NO2 is one of the most critical pollutants in urban ambient air.
Another step towards clean air!
