Universally applicable dilution solutions for emission tests from Dekati®.
In combustion processes in particular, the concentrations of the samples to be measured are often far too high to obtain usable results with precise measurement technology. Furthermore, high exhaust gas temperatures with high moisture contents lead to disturbing condensation effects and there is a risk of damaging the measuring equipment. Special sample conditioning is therefore necessary.
The portable dilution systems of the eDiluter™ product line from Dekati® are particularly well suited for aerosol measurement technology after combustion processes and can be utilized universally. Measuring devices from a wide range of manufacturers can be used and connected behind the system. Thus, each eDiluter™ can also be integrated into already established processes.
All models of the eDiluter™ series operate according to the two-stage ejector principle, with the first stage being heated. They offer a fixed (eDiluter™) or variable (eDiluter™ Pro) dilution factor between 1:25 and 1:225. The dilution temperature and up to two external heating elements can be controlled via the front panel. The output volume flow of the diluted sample from the system is greater than 50 l/min. For measurements at extremely high temperatures, a combination of the eDiluter™ Pro with a “High Temperature Sampling Probe” is available (eDiluter™ Pro 1200C). The integrated active cooling system allows measurements and direct sampling of aerosols from a combustion zone or flame at temperatures up to 1200 °C.
Thus, there are many possible applications, including the dilution of aerosols and gases; measurement and research of combustion processes (e.g. at power plants, biomass combustion plants or coal furnaces); investigations of engine exhaust gases from ships, aircraft and motor vehicles, whereby automatic pressure compensation on the eDiluter™ Pro also allows measurements upstream of diesel particulate filters (DFP); measurements at stationary emission sources, upstream and downstream of aftertreatment systems.
In the last issue (11-12/2021) of the trade journal Gefahrstoffe – Reinhaltung der Luft (Hazardous Substances – Air Pollution Control), we had a placement on the cover and provided a brief insight into the versatile applications of the eDiluter™ series in a two-page cover story. We showed the exciting setup of an emission test with simultaneous use of several measuring devices to measure the particle size distribution in the exhaust gas of a chimney stove. Take a look when you get a chance!
